New Bicycle Ordered

Lunchtime today I went and placed my new bicycle order at Cycle King in Stony Stratford... I’m buying it through Cyclescheme; my work claim the VAT back and I get to pay for it in 12 equal ‘gross salary’ payments – cool!

I already have a mountain bike that I bought 13 years ago, so I’ve chosen a simple 3-speed to commute to work with.

The Cyclescheme rules are the bike + accessories must cost £250-£1000 and this bike was only £125, so I’ve made up the difference in accessories... helmet, gloves, puncture resistant tyre upgrade, pump, lock, panniers, lights and trip computer.

I expect to collect the bike in 2 weeks or so, until then I’m off to work on my feet or the ol’ mountain bike... Q

Introduction

Hi, this blog is all about how Quincy is going to lose weight during 2009!

The blog name is derived from my nickname + a contraction of the word Hippopotamus, and this blog is dedicated to my wife who calls me pie-face and lard-arse.

Here are a few statistics...

• Height - 1.80m
• Current Weight - 100kg / BMI 31.6
• Target Weight - 80kg / BMI 25.2

...and this will be achieved with a Slimming World diet & exercise.

The slimming world diet is thanks to my wife who has had great success with it, and she has the patience to work out a weekly menu. The exercise will take the form of leaving the car at home and either cycle or walk to work, 2.5 miles each way.
